Crash causes traffic chaos at city intersection

23/07/2008 8:20:00 AM
Fifteen children were uninjured when two buses collided late yesterday at 4pm.

One bus ran into the rear of another heading west along the New England Highway at the High Street intersection.

Ambulance officers told the Mercury that one of the bus drivers had to be treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Neither bus driver needed to be taken to hospital.

The 15 children on the rear bus were uninjured and were picked up by another bus shortly after the accident.

The rear bus’s windshield and dashboard were pushed in by the impact of the crash.

The front bus suffered panel damage.

Ambulance, police and the fire brigade all attended the scene.

With traffic heavily banked up to Green Hills police co-ordinated the traffic flow until the scene was cleared at 5.30pm.
