Blacks third after weekend off

The Maitland Blacks had the bye on Saturday and have stayed in third position on the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union ladder.

The Blacks have an impressive total of 53 points.

In other round 17 results in the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union competition University cemented a top five spot with a 33-17 win over Wanderers.

Hamilton thrashed Easts at Hexham Oval 45-8 and now sit in first place on for and against with Merewether Carlton who had a 16-all draw with The Waratahs.

Southern Beaches scored an upset victory over Lake Macquarie 29-26 and Singleton defeated last placed Nelson Bay 12-8 at Rugby Park.

The Blacks travel to Walters Park to take on Lake Macquarie this

weekend in an effort to collect a bonus point and continue their fine form before the business end of the season.
